H-E-B Christmas Tree Lighting

The 38th annual H-E-B Christmas tree lighting returns to Travis Park on Friday. Arrive at the park early for live music, holiday crafts, the chance to write letters to Santa and more. The official lighting ceremony will begin at 6:20 p.m. This year’s tree is a blue spruce that came from Michigan. Friday, 3-9 p.m. 301 E. Travis St. 

Ford Holiday River Parade and Lighting Ceremony

Celebrate the holiday season the San Antonio way with the annual Holiday River Parade and lighting of the River Walk. The parade will feature 28 illuminated floats, more than 100,000 lights and the chance to welcome Mr. and Mrs. Claus to town. Reserve tickets for the parade here. Several restaurants also are offering reservations for tables with views of the parade. Friday, 6-9 p.m. Arneson River Theatre and Downtown River Walk

Friendsgiving

Keep your Thanksgiving going with this event at The Good Kind. They’ll have a maker’s market so you can start your shopping, DJ tunes, a holiday cocktail menu and Thanksgiving sandwich specials. Friday, 7-11 p.m. 1127 S. St. Mary’s St. 

The Immersive Nutcracker

A family-friendly immersive Nutcracker experience is now open in the same location that hosted Immersive Van Gogh earlier this year. Watch a reimagined telling of Tchaikovsky’s classic. Expect the songs you love, like “The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy,” plus animated characters and outdoor scenes. Can’t make it this weekend? The experience is open through Dec. 31. Holiday Art Market

Browse home decor items, gourmet food, accessories, art and more during this market featuring dozens of makers and artisans at the Tobin Center’s Will Naylor Smith River Walk Plaza. Admission is free. Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. 100 Auditorium Circle 

A Christmas Carol

The musical version of this classic Charles Dickens story is on stage at the Public Theater of San Antonio starting this weekend. Watch as the grumpy curmudgeon who values wealth above all else learns his lesson during visits from three Christmas Eve ghosts. The production is on stage through Dec. 18. Tango in the Courtyard

Enjoy a romantic night out at the Hotel Valencia during the final edition of this year’s Tango in the Courtyard series. Guests will receive a bottle of Malbec, an Argentinian cheese dessert and a red rose upon arrival, in addition to a performance in the hotel courtyard by professional tango dancers. World Cup Watch Party

Potted Potter

This parody Harry Potter experience by Dan and Jeff attempts to pack all seven Potter books into 70 minutes.
