The Air Force 90th Cyberspace Operations Squadron (90 COS), a long-running software development unit, commemorated the opening of its new office space Wednesday in a recently renovated historic downtown building. The units office, called “Shadow’s Edge” will house a team of civilian and military software developers, called “Shadow Warriors” in 43,000 square feet of space in the building at 420 Broadway.

Deputy Director Rebecca Lively says opening the office and managing this team of software developers has been a goal for her for a year, even though five years ago she says she never would have seen herself in this position. She says that the office space is also an upgrade from the 90 COS’ previous digs at Lackland Air Force Base.

Lt. Col. Casey Miller, commander of the U.S. Air Force’s 90th Cyberspace Operations Squadron, tours the unit’s new software development office in the Light Building in downtown San Antonio.

“It’s pretty incredible the support that we’ve had from from the Air Force from the San Antonio community,” Lively says. “It’s given me confidence that this is the right choice.”

The software developers will specialize in offensive and defensive tech development in support of U.S. Cyber Command, also known as USCYBERCOM, which focuses on bolstering the cyberspace capabilities of the Department of Defense. She says the team could be working on up to 16 different software.

Deputy Director Rebecca Lively says the building is located on one of the main trunks of fiber infrastructure, allowing for better access to high speed internet.

90 COS is overseen by its commander Lt. Col. Casey “Waldo” Miller.

“The development that you will get to do here is well beyond any expectations hat you could have reasonably had at other software factories,” Miller says. “It is a whole other level.
