Alice in Wonderland-inspired gaming experience coming to San Antonio – mySA

An overseas gaming studio that transforms board games and beloved stories into real-life adventures is bringing an Alice in Wonderland-inspired experience to the streets of San Antonio. This fall, CluedUpp Games is creating their wonderland in the Alamo City.

On Saturday, November 12, groups of friends, coworkers and any other type of fun-seekers will tumble down the rabbit hole on a mission, playing against the clock and other teams to save Alice from wonderland using an app-based game.

“Following the success of ‘Witchcraft & Wizardry’ and ‘Crimescene Investigator,’CluedUpp is back with a brand new type of outdoor experience that combines outdoor gaming and escape-room-style challenges in a magical interpretation of Lewis Carroll’s much-loved story,” a news release says.

The virtual reality gaming experience takes place entirely outside. Groups are built of six people (with an entry charge of $80 a team). All groups need is a phone to play and whimsical outfit ideas as dressing in theme is highly encouraged.

CluedUpp was started in 2010 in cities throughout the U.K. Online reviews are mostly positive with customers saying they used the events as team-bonding outings and birthday get-togethers.

Tref Griffiths, founder of CluedUpp Games, says in a press statement that the intention is to get people outside and playing.

“Alice in Wonderland gave us the perfect opportunity to create a brand new themed experience that we hope people will love,” he adds. “Get ready for mystery, mayhem and a whole lot of fun!”
