San Antonio police said that an armed man has been barricaded inside an East Side apartment for more than 12 hours after he was reportedly seen shooting a gun at his neighbor’s dog and home.

Police responded to the apartment complex for a mental health call at the 5400 block of Diamondback Trail around 5:24 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13. The unidentified 28-year-old man was already barricaded inside the apartment and officials said they attempted to peacefully negotiate with the man, who now has an active felony warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Officials said early negotiations were unsuccessful after the man reportedly began firing rounds from his weapon inside the apartment, after which SWAT took over at the scene.

Police said the suspect now faces an additional warrant for deadly conduct with a firearm. No injuries, including to the dog, have been reported and the the negotiations are ongoing.

This story is developing and will be updated as more details become available.
