An 80-floor skyscraper project is coming to take the “tallest tower in Texas” title away from a tower project that broke ground in September. Wilson Capital, an Austin-based real estate company, plans to build the Wilson Tower in the heart of downtown Austin that will house 450 high-rise apartments, the company announced in a news release on Monday, November 14.
The tower at 410 E. 5th St., Austin, TX 78701, will stretch 1.035 feet into the Austin skyline once complete. The project will take away the title from the 74-story, 1,022-foot residential tower called the Waterline, which broke ground in September.
Wilson Tower will have a floor-level restaurant and bar as well as four full floors of amenities, including a pool deck with food and beverage service, a fitness and wellness center, residential cocktail lounge, a movie theater, and co-working spaces. There will also be a floor dedicated to pets, that comes with a playroom, grooming center, and dog run area.
The apartments will range from studios to four-bedroom penthouses.
“We are proud to be part of the redevelopment of East 5th Street – being a native Austinite, it has been a journey to watch the evolution of the city over the last decade,” says Taylor Wilson, founder and president of Wilson Capital, in the news release.
Wilson Capital originally planned to build a 54-story tower called Avenue Lofts at the site in July before it grew into the Wilson Tower project.
