Buh-bye, 80s! Strong cold front will drop temperatures into the 40s and 50s this weekend

Bust out that chili or soup recipe and get ready for…

Our first “real-deal” cold front will move through South Central Texas and San Antonio Friday, November 11 — around lunch.

Unlike our last few fronts, when the cold air has been short-lived, the chill will stick with us through the weekend and into next week.

Here’s what we know so far:

Thursday (Nov. 10)

  • Thursday will be our last muggy & warm day for at least a while
  • Like the past few days, some morning fog & drizzle is possible with a stray downpour in the afternoon
  • The high will be in the low-80s

Friday, Veterans Day (Nov. 11) – Cold front day!

Veterans Day will turn windy and cooler! (Copyright 2022 by KSAT – All rights reserved.)
  • You won’t need the jacket Friday morning…yet. It’ll still be mild with a morning temperature near 70°
  • Then, around lunch, the cold front will move through South Central Texas and San Antonio
  • 🌬️It will become windy with gusts up to 35 mph from the north
  • 🍂Temperatures will fall throughout the day — eventually into the 50s
  • ☔In addition to the drop in temperatures, it’s going to be a damp day with scattered light-to-moderate rain
  • If you have outdoor plans Veterans Day, consider an indoor “plan B” if possible. Any rain should come to an end by Saturday morning

Saturday (Nov. 12)

  • Pretty chilly for the weekend! Saturday will start in the low- to mid-40s with blustery winds from the north
  • If we see some sun in the afternoon, temperatures will top off in the low-60s. If it stays cloudy, we’ll struggle to get out of the 50s
  • It’ll be a chilly evening, with temperatures quickly falling into the 40s after sunset

Sunday (Nov. 13)

  • A cold start in the upper-30s in the Hill Country and the low-40s around San Antonio
  • It’ll be mostly cloudy with a high near 60°

Next Week (Nov. 14 – 18)

  • Another cold front is expected next week, so it will stay cool around San Antonio and South Central Texas. We expect mornings in the 40s and afternoons in the low-60s
