Redesigns on a Hill Country road could be impacted by community members next week. New Braunfels is holding an open house on September 28 for the Castell Avenue corridor redesign where the community’s input will be heard, according to a news release.

“Enhancing the walkability of the Castell Avenue corridor and making the area safer and more comfortable for all users of the street is an important effort to the continued vitality of our downtown environment,” said New Braunfels Economic Development Director Jeff Jewell in the release.

The open house will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Tejas Room at New Braunfels City Hall located at 550 Landa Street, New Braunfels, TX 78130.

“The focus of the design effort takes the feedback from the Castell Avenue master planning process and focuses the engineering design effort within the space of Castell Avenue itself,” Jewell said in the release. “These open house-style meetings make it easier for citizens to participate and provide staff with valuable feedback that will be used as this project moves forward to the 2023 Bond Advisory Committee for consideration.”

Jewell added that the Castell Avenue open house is one of many meetings being held in New Braunfels that goes over the street improvement project. Engineer design team representatives, city staff will be present with the “plans and schematics” ready for community members to take a look at and also answer any questions they might have.

Those unable to attend the meeting can still check out the plans here.
