Anyone with a sweet tooth is most likely plenty familiar with all the panaderias throughout San Antonio, especially when it comes to the city’s Southside and Westside. Some of those panaderias and other spots for pan dulce have recently gotten a bit of recognition for making some of the best Mexican pastries across Texas.

In a Yelp roundup of the top 25 spots for pan dulce in Texas, San Antonio cleaned house to say the least. Yes, the Alamo City claimed 10 of those spots, proving that San Antonio knows better than Austin, Dallas, Houston, and even El Paso when it comes to pan dulce. So whether you like bragging on San Antonio or are genuinely looking for sweet bread favorites like conchas and marranitos, you can trust these bakeries to deliver authentic deliciousness.

Tlahco Mexican Kitchen came out at the top of the list, which may not be a surprise for anyone who has ordered the conchas, served with hot chocolate meant for dipping.

Ranked third was La Panadería, which coincidentally has three locations in San Antonio. The original Broadway location, located just south of Loop 410, remains a staple while the downtown and La Cantera locations stay busy as popular destinations.

Also in the top 10 of the list are Stone Oak’s Pan & Coffee at No. 6, Fredericksburg Road’s Panaderia Jimenez & Coffee Shop at No. 8, and Panifico Bake Shop, a beloved Westside favorite, at No. 10. This just proves that San Antonio bakers really know what they’re doing!

Guanajuato Bakery came in at No. 11 while downtown mainstay and tourist must-try Mi Tierra Cafe & Bakery placed at No. 14. Bedoy’s Bakery, a local institution packed with plenty of history, was named No. 16. At No. 22 is Cristy’s Bakery while La Superior Bakery, which has a number of shops scattered throughout the city, made the list at No. 24.
