H-E-B announces Uvalde location will receive $10M remodel

The $10 million “remodel” is scheduled to start on Halloween, October 31, and is expected to be completed by May 26, 2023, according to the filing. H-E-B Public Affairs Manager Julie Bedingfield told MySA that H-E-B will use the $10 million to upgrade its refrigerators.

The H-E-B is located at 201 E Main St., Uvalde, TX 78801.

In June, H-E-B and the Butt family donated $10 million to Uvalde for a brand new elementary school to replace Robb Elementary School. On May 24, a shooter went into the elementary school and killed 19 students and two teachers. Uvalde CISD chose to demolish the elementary school in the aftermath. H-E-B will collaborate with other organizations and stakeholders in creating a new elementary campus, according to a MySA report.

H-E-B Chairman Charles Butt said in the report that the first H-E-B in Uvalde opened in 1959. He added, “As we continue to mourn the tremendous loss, I join with my family and H-E-B in working to ensure the Uvalde community can move forward from this tragic event. Our children are this country’s future, and our schools should be a safe place where children can thrive and envision new possibilities.”

This week H-E-B launched the first H-E-B debit card that will give shoppers a chance to pay and save on groceries. The new debit card will give customers 5% off on all H-E-B brands.
