There will be plenty of opportunities for free grub as San Antonio businesses are stepping up to fill the void of the annual Cowboy Breakfast following its 2023 cancellation. Still, local residents will be happy to know that even more free breakfast tacos will be up for grabs at a pop-up event on Friday, January 27.

Favor, the food and grocery delivery service owned by H-E-B, is sending its chief taco officer, an esteemed title held by San Antonio foodie Chris Flores, out into the city to give the people what they want. Locals likely know Flores by his social media handle, @eatmigos.

On Friday, Flores will make an appearance at True Texas Tacos, located inside the H-E-B store at 17439 Classen Road, San Antonio, TX 78247, from 8 to 11 a.m. to spread breakfast taco cheer. Each person who stops by will receive two free tacos while supplies last.

When he’s not giving away free breakfast tacos to folks across Texas, Flores’ role as chief taco officer requires that he travel across the Lone Star State in search of notable tacos that other foodies should taste for themselves. The San Antonio resident, who already had a sizable Instagram following in tasting his way through the Alamo City’s food scene, was appointed to the gig last summer. In earning the very Texas role, Flores is compensated with $10,000 on top of his meals and lodging being covered as well as free Favor delivery for a year.
