Hill Country resident wins $1M off Texas Lottery scratcher

A Dripping Springs resident won $1 million off the $1,000,000 Crossword scratch ticket game, according to a Texas Lottery news release. The winner wants to stay anonymous, according to the release, but they did talk to the Texas Lottery.

“I didn’t believe it,” the winner told the Texas Lottery about the moment they realized they won, in the release. “I thought there was a mistake because I couldn’t find the 10th word. My 10th word was ‘Aha.’ I called a friend to verify. I thought if I couldn’t find the 10th word, the prize would be $20,000 instead of $1 million-which would still have been a good prize.”

The winner knows a little bit about a “good prize” because they won $20,000 off a different scratch-off ticket back in 2008, according to the release. So, what is next for the winner? The claimant shared what the plan is going forward, “If I’m frugal, I should be able to live work-free for the rest of my life.”

The ticket was purchased at the H-E-B located at 598 E. Highway 290, Dripping Springs, TX 78620. For the $1,000,000 Crossword game, the win was the fifth of eight top prizes worth $1 million.
