Iconic West, Texas Czech Stop bakery reopens after car crash

According to the West Police Department, an elderly person believed they hit the brakes in their vehicle, but hit the gas instead causing the car to accelerate into the building. No injuries were reported.

While the crash looked damaging, the West Fire Department said only the front windows were damaged. Police inspected the building for any structural damage but found nothing unstable.

“We don’t normally post about individual incidents but this one is drawing a lot of attention,” the fire department wrote on Facebook on Monday night. “The windows are boarded but Czech Stop bakery is open for business so don’t let last night’s accident keep you from stopping in West for your sweet treat!”
