IN PHOTOS: Quarter-sized hail pummels San Antonio area during thunderstorms

SAN ANTONIO – Waves of quarter and penny-sized hail pounded the San Antonio area for several minutes as thunderstorms passed through Thursday night.

Hail was also seen slipping through the roof of the Alamodome during the Wagner and Frisco Liberty match, delaying the game in the fourth quarter during the Texas Class 5A girls’ basketball state semifinal.

According to KSAT meteorologists, Bexar, Central Guadalupe, and Comal Counties were under a severe thunderstorm warning until 8:45 p.m.

The thunderstorms brought heavy rainfall, strong wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour in some areas, hail and led to multiple power outages.

KSAT meteorologists said the storms in SA began at 5 p.m. and are expected to conclude around 10 p.m.
