Man out on bond arrested for assaulting girlfriend after she refused to shower with him, police say

SAN ANTONIO – A man with a lengthy criminal history was arrested again Friday after police say he assaulted his girlfriend.

Henry Marquis Ybarbo, 28, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after police say he attacked his girlfriend of four months at their shared apartment because she refused to shower with him.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Ybarbo became upset after the victim said she didn’t want to shower with him Thursday morning.

Ybarbo punched the victim several times in her face, head and arms, which caused swelling and pain to multiple areas.

The victim left the apartment to sit on a bench outside the complex after the assault and Ybarbo approached her with a small kitchen knife, the affidavit states.

Ybarbo then told the victim to give him her cell phone.

She complied and Ybarbo assaulted her with his fists again, while still holding the knife, police said.

The couple returned to their apartment and continued arguing and Ybarbo physically assaulted the victim again, the affidavit states.

She was able to leave the apartment following the third assault and call the police.

Ybarbo left the apartment with the victim’s laptop and cellphone and officers who arrived on the scene were unable to locate him.

According to court records, Ybarbo was arrested and booked into Bexar County Jail Friday.

The affidavit states that Ybarbo was out on bond with an ankle monitor for an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge stemming from a March 2021 incident.

Court records show a lengthy criminal history for Ybarbo with charges including endangering a child, multiple drug violations, theft of a firearm and tampering with government records.

Ybarbo’s bond was set at $75,000 for the aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge regarding Thursday’s incident.
