Man runs to bar seeking help after shooting near downtown

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are investigating a shooting that they say happened inside a parking garage near downtown that belongs to the Alamo Colleges District.

The victim showed up at a nearby bar around 1:30 a.m. Monday, seeking help for a gunshot wound in his leg.

Although police found him at the Heat Nightclub, located in the 1500 block of N. Main, he told them he was shot at the parking garage near W. Park Avenue and N. Main.

The victim told them three men dressed all in black and wearing masks had approached him inside the garage and one of them shot him.

Officers said the shooting may have stemmed from a robbery. However, they did not say what, if anything, was taken.

The victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment and is expected to be ok.

The shooting location is about a block away from San Antonio College, which is part of the Alamo Colleges District.

An ACD spokesman said there is some sort of joint-use arrangement with the parking garage and that the shooting happened in a section that is not used by SAC.

He also said that he didn’t know if the victim, who police described as being in his 20s, was a student.

Police are still looking for the shooter.
