SAN ANTONIO (September 21, 2022) – The City of San Antonio Planning Department is hosting an Open House at the Davis-Scott YMCA (1213 Iowa St, 78203) for the Eastside Community Area Plan. The Open House will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and attendees may come and go during this time.
The planning process for the Eastside Community Area Plan was initiated in 2019 and is part of the City’s work effort to implement the SA Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan, which was adopted by City Council in 2016. The City has organized numerous meetings to engage residents and gather feedback about how the area can develop and build on its existing assets to fulfill the community’s vision.
Since 2019, the City has heard from hundreds of residents, business owners, and area stakeholders. Recommendations and strategies were drafted based off feedback received through this community-based planning process. When adopted, the Plan will be used by City departments, partner agencies, private entities, and community partners to support livable, complete neighborhoods.
“The Eastside Community Area Plan has been a years-long, collaborative effort with area residents and stakeholders. Your continued support and dedication throughout this process is essential to planning for the Eastside community,” said Bridgett White, AICP, Director of the Planning Department. “We thank you for your collaboration and invite you to attend the Open House to share your comments and feedback as we near the final stages of the planning process.”
During the Open House, residents will review the draft plan, have an opportunity to ask questions, and provide their feedback on the draft recommendations and strategies. Comments may be submitted at the in-person Open House, at eastside.sacompplan.com or by reaching out to the Project Manager, Channary Gould at (210) 207-5446.
The deadline for comments on the draft plan is Sunday, October 16, 2022.
