San Antonio police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run after an unknown vehicle struck and killed a man riding his bicycle on the city’s Northwest Side on Wednesday, September 21. The man was in his 40s, police said.

The incident occurred just before 10 p.m. in the 9100 block of Culebra Road. The unknown vehicle was traveling south on the street when it struck the man cycling on the roadway, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

The San Antonio Fire Department and emergency units arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene. Police have not released the identification of the man as they are waiting until they can notify the next of kin.

Police said the driver faces charges of failure to stop and render aid-death. At this time, the case remains under investigation and no arrests have been made.

On June 11, a local cyclist was fatally struck by a car in the 6400 block of IH-35 access road on the city’s Northeast Side. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the cyclist as Adrian Martinez. He was 41.
