A woman is facing murder charges after setting a man on fire at a North Texas gas station, killing him. Reports from WFAA, an Arlington news station, say that a Texas man named Ricky Doyle has died from his injuries weeks after his girlfriend doused him in gasoline and set him on fire during a “domestic violence incident” on July 18.

Officers from the Arlington Police Department responded to the scene after receiving multiple calls about the fire. Bystanders reportedly stopped the flames using fire extinguishers in an attempt to save the 25-year-old man, who had burns across most of his body, according to the WFAA report.

Breana Johnson, 24, was identified as Doyle’s girlfriend and the attacker based on witness accounts and video evidence from the scene.

The couple had been arguing at the scene before Johnson pumped gasoline into the Jeep Doyle was in, according to the report. Police say Johnson ignited the backseat, prompting Doyle to run out of the vehicle engulfed in flames. Witnesses said Doyle was bleeding and that his skin appeared to be melting off his body.

A witness later told police that they heard Johnson tell Doyle, “I’m going to kill you,” before going inside the store.

Johnson reportedly got back into the Jeep before driving away from the scene, authorities said. She was taken into custody a day following the incident.

Doyle was transported to a hospital in critical condition soon after the incident. His death this week was determined to be a result of his injuries. Johnson is now facing a murder charge and remains in custody at this time. She’s expected to appear in court next week.
