1 adult and 2 children killed in major crash in Kendall County, officials say

A fatal accident has closed I-10 westbound in Kendall County, rerouting traffic through Comfort at Exit 524.

SAN ANTONIO — One adult and two children were killed in a crash that caused a highway to close in Kendall County Monday afternoon, according to Texas DPS.

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office originally posted on Facebook that I-10 westbound at the 524-mile marker was currently closed due to a deadly crash. All westbound traffic was rerouted through Comfort at Exit 524. Drivers were encouraged to use alternate routes and avoid the area if possible. 

According to a preliminary report, a silver GMC pickup truck was stopped on the right lane of the highway when a tractor trailer and semi-trailer hit the pickup. A 23-year-old adult and two children were pronounced dead at the scene. A second adult was taken to a San Antonio hospital with unknown injuries and young girl was airlifted to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries. 

The highway is expected to reopen around 9:15p.m. Monday night.
