1 arrested after striking officer in downtown San Antonio, officials say

Authorities on scene said after a suspect became combative with police, they struck an officer and were placed under arrest.

SAN ANTONIO — A man has been arrested after allegedly striking an officer in downtown San Antonio.

Around 3:30 p.m., officials responded to the intersection of Alamo Plaza and East Commerce Street after reports of a disturbance.

Preliminary information from a law enforcement officer on the scene suggests the suspect began being combative and fighting with police before they struck an officer and were placed under arrest.

Officials say the suspect is possibly facing a charge of assault on a public servant.
