
Gunfire in downtown San Antonio left one person dead and another injured early Saturday morning, according to police.
SAN ANTONIO — One person is dead and another was injured after police said gunfire broke out early Saturday morning in downtown San Antonio.
Officers were called around 4 a.m. after a reported disturbance off East Commerce Street where police said shots were fired.
According to police, the first victim, a 27-year-old man, was shot near Alamo Plaza. That victim was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
Investigators said the suspects ran toward the Denny’s located at East Commerce and Bowie Street, where they shot a second person. That victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to SAPD, witnesses lead police to a small group of people who were seen approaching a Nissan Altima. Officers tried to talk with the individuals but they entered the car and fled the area.
Authorities said with the help of EAGLE tracking, police noted that multiple people were seen exiting the Nissan Altima near Burnet Street and Onslow before fleeing from officers a second time.
Investigators said a secure area was established nearby and two suspects were apprehended. A gun was also recovered.
No other injuries were reported.
SAPD said this is an ongoing investigation.
