San Antonio fire confirmed one person was dead when they arrived at the scene.
SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department is on the scene of a fatal shooting near a northwest-side apartment complex.
Around 2:50 p.m., officials responded to two locations, the 1700 block of Babcock Road and 1500 block of Mardell Street, after receiving reports of a shooting.
SAPD said they received calls from people reporting they heard around 12 to 15 shots ring out on Mardell Street.
Upon arrival, police were able to detain a possible suspect but said it is unclear if he was the suspect or the victim as preliminary information gave police enough to believe it could have been a robbery situation.
SAPD said no weapon has been found but by the number of casings found on the scene, it seems as if two men started shooting at each other and one of them was struck before being taken to the apartment complex on the 1700 block of Babcock Road.
Upon arrival to the complex, SAFD confirmed a man in his 30s had died due to a reported gunshot wound.
This is an ongoing investigation. KENS 5 will update this story as more information becomes available.
