1 killed, multiple children and an adult injured in two-vehicle collision

APD believes a driver was heading the wrong way when they reportedly crashed into another vehicle with five people inside.

AUSTIN, Texas — One woman is dead and four others, including three children, are injured after a crash that happened late on Memorial Day in northwest Austin.

According to a social media post from the Austin Police Department (APD), law enforcement arrived just after midnight Tuesday to the scene of a two-vehicle collision on Research Boulevard and West Braker Lane.

Officers believe an individual in a white vehicle might have been driving on the wrong side of the road when they reportedly crashed into another vehicle carrying five people.

A woman inside the vehicle was reportedly killed and a man was transported to a hospital by life-flight. APD also stated there were three children involved in the crash, all of which were taken to a hospital for minor injuries.

The suspected wrong-way driver might have minor injuries, as well.

No arrests have been made as of Tuesday morning. The road was temporarily closed to traffic but has since reopened to drivers.

This is a developing story. We will provide updates with any additional information.
