Space Cowboys celebrate boy’s cancer recovery with VIP ballpark experience.
SUGAR LAND, Texas — Rain didn’t dampen the celebrations at a Sugar Land ballpark Friday!
A 10-year-old boy who recently completed seven months of cancer treatment was honored with a VIP experience at Constellation Field when the Space Cowboys hosted a special celebration recognizing his remarkable recovery.
Landon, from Tomball, finished his treatment for stage 4 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and secondary Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) on March 31 after being diagnosed in September 2024. The Space Cowboys organization has partnered with Candlelighters, a support organization for families of children with cancer, to make this celebration possible.
During the event, Landon took batting practice with the team, received a personalized Space Cowboys jersey, and signed a one-day ceremonial contract with the organization. The highlight of the evening was Landon ringing the cancer bell—symbolizing the completion of his treatment—before throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.

“I have never done that before,” Landon said at the press conference. “It was really cool, a good experience.”
He said the players told him he did a good job at BP.
“The entire Space Cowboys organization is honored to stand with Landon, his family, and over 300 other childhood cancer families with Candlelighters, to celebrate this important moment,” the team stated in their announcement.
The event also aims to spotlight Candlelighters’ work supporting families affected by childhood cancer. For more than three decades, the organization has provided practical, emotional, and educational assistance to families throughout Houston and Fort Bend County, including Sugar Land. Their services range from parking assistance and grocery cards to hospital support and weekend family camps.

The Space Cowboys game versus the Round Rock Express was postponed due to rain and would be played as a doubleheader Saturday, but Landon still got his time to shine.
