Police say a tree fell on a southwest Atlanta home, killing 10-year-old girl A’erica Dixon early Saturday.
ATLANTA — A 10-year-old girl died early Saturday after a tree fell on her family’s home in southwest Atlanta, according to police.
Atlanta Police Department said they responded around 3 a.m. to the 1400 block of Mims Street SW after a report of a tree falling on a home with possible entrapment.
Crews later found six people lived in the home. The 10-year-old girl, identified as A’erica Dixon, died from her injuries caused by the impact of the fallen tree.
Her family set up an online fundraiser to help with funeral costs.


Her mother and grandmother were taken to a hospital and officers said both were in stable condition.
The American Red Cross was contacted to help the family.
Authorities have not released the child’s name. No updates were provided about the other individuals who lived in the home.
