$10k reward offered after cat shot with blowgun dart in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio cat is recovering after a shocking act of animal cruelty, and authorities are asking for the public’s help to find the person responsible.

Smokey, a brown tabby living on the 7100 block of Spring Terrace Drive, was discovered Nov. 28, with an orange blowgun dart lodged in her back near her shoulder blade. Weeks earlier, Smokey’s caregiver had already found the same type of dart near his garage.

Smokey survived the incident and is now recovering after receiving veterinary care.

The animal advocacy group, Alley Cat Allies is offering up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case. Both the animal advocacy group and the San Antonio Police Department are urging anyone who knows anything about the incident to call SAPD at 210-207-8326.
