12-hour SWAT standoff on east side connected to weekend shooting ends with arrest

The suspect, Mark Criollo, faces charges related to a shooting that killed a 19-year-old on Sunday

SAN ANTONIO — A SWAT situation on the east side has wrapped after what was almost a twelve-hour standoff with police.

The standoff started around 2 p.m. Sunday, at a home on Potomac Street. 

Police surrounded the home trying to get the suspect, Mark Criollo to surrender by using negotiators and tear gas.

Criollo is accused of shooting and killing 19-year-old Jordan Bocanegra on East Commerce Street on Sunday morning at Stanley’s Gas Station.

The San Antonio Police Street Crimes department worked with covert detectives to locate the suspect, who was seen in the backyard of his home. 

Police say it wasn’t until around 1:30 a.m. that the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody.

The family believed Bocanegra and the suspect had an ongoing dispute.
