The juvenile was arrested Tuesday afternoon at a west-Bexar County home, where deputies say they seized a firearm and other evidence pertaining to the case.
SAN ANTONIO — A child was arrested and now faces felony charges after a reported shooting threat made toward another student, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrested the 12-year-old Luna Middle School student after BCSO investigated an initial thread they reportedly made over FaceTime last weekend.
According to BCSO, the juvenile suspect reportedly threatened his peer during the conversation, in which they also displayed photos of guns. The preteen allegedly threatened to shot the victim and “shoot up the school.”
Deputies arrested the child Tuesday afternoon at a home in far west Bexar County and executed a search warrant for any evidence pertaining to the case. During the search, investigators say, deputies seized a .380 caliber pistol with an extended magazine, ammunition, two fake pistols and two sets of plate carriers for body armor.
The suspect was booked into the Bexar County Juvenile Detention Center and faces one charge of terroristic threat causing public fear.
This incident comes just days after a separate case in which a 12-year-old was arrested for making threats targeting several San Antonio area schools in a social media post.
“It’s vital that parents speak to children about the serious consequences attached to making threats,” said Sheriff Javier Salazar. “The BCSO will investigate these cases vigorously and will make arrests when appropriate.”
