14-year-old pedestrian killed in McKinney hit-and-run, police say

According to police, the incident occurred near the intersection of Lake Forest Drive and Highlands Drive.

MCKINNEY, Texas — The McKinney Police Department said it is searching for the suspect in a hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a 14-year-old pedestrian Saturday evening. 

According to the department, officers responded to the intersection of Lake Forest Drive and Highlands Drive to the report of a hit-and-run at about 6:14 p.m. 

Police said the teenager was hit by a dark-colored, four-door sedan. The suspect’s car may have front-end damage and damage to the passenger side mirror, according to police. 

McKinney PD said a second car stopped at the scene to render aid and McKinney Fire Department personnel performed life-saving measures. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he later died, police said. 

“This is a devastating tragedy for the family and our community,” Chief Joe Ellenburg said in a press release. “We extend our deepest condolences to the family and remain committed to finding the individual responsible for this terrible incident.”
