SMITH COUNTY, Texas — A major multi-vehicle crash is blocking traffic on I-20.
Sgt. Larry Christian with Smith County Sheriff’s Office confirmed westbound traffic on I-20 is blocked to through traffic. Two 18-wheelers and six passenger vehicles were involved, officials confirmed.
A total of 19 total people were involved. 17 have been transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, Lindale Fire Department confirmed as of 4:51 p.m.
The road is currently blocked beginning at Jim Hogg Road near mile marker 558. Motorists are advised to avoid the area or find an alternate route.
