
Authorities say a Rocksprings High School junior died after an accident involving a large pole while it was being moved to a track area.
A 17-year-old student at Rocksprings High School has died after an accident Sunday evening involving equipment being moved near a track area, according to the Edwards County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff J.W. Guthrie said the accident happened around 5:32 p.m. on March 7.
Authorities said people at the school were moving a large pole to the track area when the accident occurred.
The student who died was identified as Samson Reyes, a junior at Rocksprings High School.
Officials said several Rocksprings Independent School District staff members were present at the time. No other injuries were reported.
Investigators are currently collecting statements from those who were on the field and working to locate any video that may show what happened.
The investigation remains ongoing.
