18-wheeler crash on I-35 injures 2 people, police say

It happened around 11:45 a.m. on I-35 South near Cassin Road.

An 18-wheeler crash injured two people on the southwest side of San Antonio Thursday.

It happened around 11:45 a.m. on Interstate 35 South near Cassin Road.

Police say that two people were taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

According to an officer at the scene, an 18-wheeler was traveling south on I-35 and didn’t see the traffic had stopped in front of him. He hit the brakes, went into the median and crossed it, then jackknifed and struck an SUV.

That SUV was being driven by a 75-year-old woman, police say, who was taken to the hospital. The 69-year-old driver of the big rig was also hospitalized.

The second 18-wheeler truck was just clipped, according to police.

Police say that alcohol was not a factor, nor does it seem that there was any criminal element to cause the crash. No charges are expected to be filed.
