18-wheeler rollover knocks down power lines, causes outages across four counties in South Texas

Officials say a semi-truck crashed into power lines in Atascosa County early Wednesday, disrupting electric service for customers in multiple counties.

ATASCOSA COUNTY, Texas — A rollover crash involving an 18-wheeler knocked down multiple power lines in far southern Atascosa County early Wednesday morning, causing power outages across several counties.

The crash happened near the intersection of FM 791 and FM 2924, according to local officials.

Authorities say the semi-truck rolled over and struck numerous power lines, disrupting electric service for customers in four counties.

Several agencies responded to the scene, including multiple fire departments, Atascosa EMS, Atascosa County Sheriff’s deputies and the Texas Department of Public Safety. Airlife was also dispatched as part of the response.

Officials say the incident remains active as crews work to secure the area and address the downed power lines.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area for several hours while emergency crews continue their work.
