19-year-old arrested following road rage shooting in Bexar County, officials say

Bexar County deputies arrested Elijah Garza after he admitted to firing several rounds at another vehicle during a road rage incident.

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — A 19-year-old man has been arrested after shooting at a vehicle five times “out of anger,” officials say.

On Friday, Bexar County Sheriff’s deputies were called for a road rage incident that allegedly ended with the victim’s car being shot multiple times.

The victim was driving home when another vehicle allegedly cut her off, almost causing an accident. When the victim tried to get the attention of the other driver, officials say he pulled up alongside her and started firing five shots towards the vehicle, striking it twice.

Officials say the victim was not injured.

Surveillance video helped lead investigators to a residence on Spring Sun Drive. On Tuesday, the SWAT team executed an arrest warrant, capturing 19-year-old Elijah Issac Garza without incident.

In the home, investigators found a Glock .40 caliber handgun and clothing they believe Garza wore during the shooting.

Garza admitted to officials that he shot the victim “out of anger.” He wasn’t sure if anybody was injured but knew he had hit the vehicle.

Garza was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, deadly conduct and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
