
Despite life-saving measures, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as 19-year-old Carlos Romero.
PLEASANTON, Texas — A teenager is now dead in Pleasanton after a physical fight turned into a shooting Friday night, according to police.
Just after 11:50 p.m. Pleasanton police were called to the 500 block of Duck Street following reports of gunshots in the area.
When they arrived, they found a victim with multiple gunshot wounds at the intersection of Duck and Ohio Street. Despite life-saving measures, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as 19-year-old Carlos Romero.
Leads from witnesses eventually led detectives to a home in the 800 block of North Main Street. There they found two persons of interest and other witnesses.
After interviewing the people inside, 18-year-old Daniel Gonzales from San Antonio and 19-year-old Seth Valenzuela from Pleasanton were identified as suspects in the murder.
A search warrant revealed evidence related to the incident, as well as two weapons, gloves and cell phones being found at the intersection of Franklin and Martin.
According to police, Romero was walking with his ex-girlfriend and her brother. Sometime after, the ex-girlfriend’s current boyfriend showed up and physically assaulted Romero, according to police. During the fight, Romero fought back and was allegedly shot by both the girl’s boyfriend and her brother he was initially walking with.
Both Gonzales and Valenzuela are now facing charges of murder and tampering with evidence. The girlfriend, 17, also faces a possession of a controlled substance charge.
