19-year-old man fatally shot on northeast side of town early Wednesday

San Antonio police say a 19-year-old was found dead inside an apartment after reports of gunfire the night before and a shooting call Wednesday morning.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened on the northeast side of town early Wednesday.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers were called around 6:47 a.m. to the 4800 block of Goldfield Drive near Rittiman Road for a shooting in progress.

When officers arrived, they noticed bullet holes on the outside of the apartment. After entering the unit, officers found a 19-year-old man lying unresponsive on the living room floor.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the investigation began hours earlier. Around 9 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the same area for a deadly conduct call after a resident reported hearing multiple gunshots and said bullets went through her apartment, striking the windows and walls. The caller was not injured and no suspects were located at that time.

Authorities say it is still unclear when the victim was shot. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the exact time of death.

Police say no other injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made.

Detectives continue to investigate the case and say the information released so far is preliminary and subject to change.
