Officers say the bike didn’t have any lights on it and the driver did not see the cyclist.
SAN ANTONIO — A bicyclist was struck by a driver on the far east side of town late Friday night, police say.
It happened around 9 p.m. in the 1800 block of South WW White Road, near U.S. 87.
Police say the 19-year-old bicyclist was riding his bike without lights and tried to cross the road.
The driver in a Dodge Caravan did not see the bicyclist and struck him. That driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers when they arrived.
He was evaluated and found to not be intoxicated. The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries in critical condition.
No criminal charges are pending.
This is a developing story.
