SAN ANTONIO — Multiple agencies aided in the recovery of a young man who drowned at Calaveras Lake on Sunday morning, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency crews, including San Antonio Fire and BCSO, received a call about a water rescue at 12991 Bernhardt Road on Calaveras Lake around 11 a.m. Several agencies launched boats to search the water, but his body wasn’t recovered until just before 6 p.m.
Authorities said the 19-year-old man was reportedly swimming near the boat docks when he went under the water. The county medical examiner on Wednesday identified him as Brayan Salvador Morales Mota.
According to officials, crews turned to sonar by 2:30 p.m., which was used to eventually locate Mota’s body when he wasn’t initially found.
