19-year-old’s social media boasts land him 10-year prison term

Gathering all the social media videos, investigators were able to identify and locate Fogel to arrest him.

KENDALL COUNTY, Texas — A 19-year-old in Kendall County gave deputies and Boerne police a literal run for their money multiple times, but now he must pay it back with 10 years in prison and a lot of money to the courts.

Timothy Fogel evaded police and deputies’ multiple times speeding off into Bexar County.

Using his Instagram account, Fogel would post videos of the high-speed chases online while taunting law enforcement.

The first encounter happened April 30 when a Boerne Police officer noticed a black BMW without license plates stopped behind his car on the I-10 West frontage road.

When the officer turned to investigate, Fogel made an obscene gesture and sped off, starting a chase that ended when the suspect drove into Bexar County.

He left a caption for this video saying, “he tried but failed.”

The second encounter was on May 10, when two Boerne police officers were at a traffic stop on I-10 east.

Officers say the same BMW did two fly-bys and was clocked speeding 142 miles per hour past them and two others on the road. The caption for this video was “little fly by for the cops.”

The third run in was on May 30 with a Kendall County deputy.

Deputies say Fogel sped by his marked patrol unit going 118 miles per hour. A pursuit followed until Fogel drove into Bexar County. The caption for this run in was quote “sheriffs don’t do nothing again.

The last situation happened on June 22 with Fogel going over 100 miles per hour on main street in Boerne.

Police say Fogel weaved through traffic, drove on the wrong side of the road and almost hit another police car.

Gathering all the social media videos, investigators were able to identify and locate Fogel to arrest him.

Fogel plead guilty to two counts of evading arrest and one for reckless driving.

Fogel will serve a 10-year prison sentence, but being a first-time offender will get probation for 6 years.

Fogel also must write apologies to the law enforcement agents he endangered and pay his parents back all legal costs.
