Upon arrival, deputies found the victim severely injured and had him taken to a local hospital.
Witnesses told authorities that an older model white sedan had struck the victim, causing him to flip over the car before it drove away.
On Feb. 4, investigators had obtained enough information to identify the suspects, locate the vehicle involved in the crime and file a search warrant.
Officials said the search of the vehicle led investigators to find blood evidence still on the car.
On Feb. 7, BCSO Sex Offender Registration Deputies were notified that Carlos R. Garcia, Jr. had violated the terms of his registration as he reportedly failed to report a vehicle within the required time frame.
Garcia was arrested and taken into custody, which is where he reportedly admitted to investigators that he was driving the Toyota Camry the night of the crash and hit the victim. He went on to tell authorities that Amanda Garcia was in the vehicle the time of the incident, which led to her arrest as well.
Amanda reportedly admitted to being in the car at the time of the crash and to knowing about the replacement of vehicle parts.
The victim’s family said he is still unable to speak or move due to the severity of his injuries.
