2 arrested after Pleasanton mother finds her teenage sons dead inside shed, authorities say

The two victims were 17 and 14 years old. Authorities say the unidentified suspects planned to rob them when “something went wrong” and shots rang out.

PLEASANTON, Texas — Two juveniles are in custody and face capital murder charges as Pleasanton authorities continue to investigate the killings of two brothers this week. The victims were 14 and 17 years old.

Pleasanton police said the frantic call for help came in after 5 a.m. on Thursday at the corner of Sixth Street and Pleasanton Avenue. A mother called to say she had found two of her children bleeding and unresponsive in a shed behind her home.

“Upon arrival, our officers determined the two males were deceased and our Criminal Investigation Division were called to begin their investigation,” said Pleasanton Police Chief Ernest Guerra.

According to an update shared Friday morning, police detained and questioned “two juvenile suspects in a vehicle” in the area, ultimately finding evidence in the vehicle linking them to the murders. Further evidence was found in other locations around the city.

“We found evidence all over,” Guerra said Thursday.

Detectives believe the two suspects intended to “rob the two juvenile victims of their belongings when something went wrong.”

“One of the suspects is believed to have shot both juveniles in the small shed behind the home where they were found deceased,” Guerra said on Friday.

Authorities also found what they believe to be the gun used in the murders.

The two suspects were taken to the police department and met with Judge Carrasco to be questioned. They’re now behind bars at the Atascosa County Juvenile Detention Center.

The bodies of the victims, meanwhile, were taken to the Ford Bend County Medical Examiner’s Office. Pleasanton police called the case a “very active investigation,” with “a lot of evidence to process.”
