2 arrested for allegedly running illegal gambling room in Texas

The two suspects, allegedly found to be operating the illegal gambling room, are now facing a litany of charges.

KARNES COUNTY, Texas — The Karnes County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two individuals for allegedly operating an illegal gambling room just south of the City of Kenedy.

On Oct. 30, deputies executed a search warrant at a suspected illegal gambling room off the 9100 block of U.S. Highway 181.

The operation had been under investigation for a “period of time” and officials say Graciela Rangel-Garcia and Jeanphilippe G. Louis were operating and running the game room.

Both were arrested and are facing the following charges:

Graciela Rangel-Garcia

  • Gambling Promotion
  • Keeping a Gambling Place
  • Possession of a Gambling Device, Equipment, and/or Paraphernalia

Jeanphilippe G. Louis

  • Gambling Promotion
  • Keeping a Gambling Place
  • Possession of a Gambling Device, Equipment, and/or Paraphernalia
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Unlawful Carrying Weapons

“Illegal gambling operations such as these are not only illegal in the State of Texas but also violate Karnes County, TX ordinance and will be investigated, shut down, and anyone linked to them, prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” the Karnes County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
