A woman and a man are charged with capital murder in the deaths of her mother and stepfather in Medina County, officials reported.
SAN ANTONIO — A woman and man are charged with capital murder in the deaths of the woman’s mother and stepfather, Medina County officials said.
Officials say they received a call on Wednesday with a report that Stephen Rehbein failed to report to work.
Deputies went to his home in the 3300 block of County Road 265 in Mico, Texas, and found evidence of foul play. They began tracking Rehbein’s car using available technology and found it was in the Corpus Christi area. The vehicle was located and the driver was pulled over with the help of the Corpus Christi Police Department on Wednesday night.
Officials say the vehicle had four people in it: 29-year-old Cassandra Lange, 32-year-old Joby Williams and two children. Lange was identified as Stephen Rehbein’s stepdaugther and the biological daughter of Stephen’s wife, Cherry Rehbein.
Both suspect were interviewed, at which point Lange allegedly confessed that she and Williams killed her mother and stepfather before disposing of their bodies in a ravine. Their bodies were found in two large trash bags in the Medina Lake area.
Lange and Williams are facing charges of capital murder of multiple persons and are in custody. The children were placed in CPS custody and will be reunited with family members.
