ARLINGTON, Texas — A man and woman are dead after an apparent murder-suicide at a hair salon in Arlington, according to police.

Arlington police said officers responded at approximately 10:15 a.m. Friday to the 7800 block of S. Cooper Street for a reported shooting. Salon and Spa Galleria is located there.

Police said officers found a man lying unresponsive inside the salon with a gunshot wound, and he was declared dead at the scene. The man’s identity was not immediately known. A woman, who police said was the suspected shooter, was also found shot at the scene with a gunshot wound they believe to be self-inflicted. The woman was taken to the hospital, where she was also pronounced dead. Both the shooter and the man killed are 37 years old.

Police said there were no additional injuries reported.

Arlington police said, based on their investigation, they believe this shooting was an isolated incident and the man and woman knew each other.

Inside one of the suites, a man was getting a haircut when gunfire erupted, witnesses and police said.

“Somebody came in and shot a client,” said Mario Ibarra, who works as a barber at Suite 913.

The victim, described by those who knew him as a regular, was sitting in the chair when he was shot.

“I heard gunshots on the other side of the building,” said Zeinab Elghoul, who works nearby.

Another witness said the woman fired multiple rounds, told everyone to get out, and began yanking on the doors to other business suites.

He said he locked himself inside a stall with a customer, repeating a desperate plea: “Lord, just let me get out of here.”

Video provided by a bystander captured the moment police arrived and moved in.

Police say the woman initially tried to flee but turned back when she saw officers. Moments later, she shot herself.

“We were just all scared, and we didn’t know what to think of. We were just all hiding and wanting it to be over,” Elghoul said.

Police say the two once had a romantic relationship. Investigators are still working to determine what led to Friday’s deadly confrontation.

This is a developing story. We’ll update this article with more information as it becomes available.
