2 officers injured while rescuing people from San Antonio home after raging fire damages 50% of home, SAFD says

Two officers were injured while saving two individuals from a house fire in San Antonio.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Fire Department said two officers were injured while battling a structure fire north of downtown.

Around 2:30 p.m., SAFD’s Battalion Chief 6 Tony Rodriguez said firefighters and police officers responded to the 600 block of East Mistletoe Avenue after receiving reports of a house fire with people inside the home.

Upon arrival, the fire was located to be in the front bedroom of the home and officials were told two people were inside, one of them being a bedridden man.

Both were saved from the home and taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation and two officers were treated on the scene.

Officials said the fire damaged approximately 50% of the home, but no other structures were affected.

A cause has yet to be determined. This is an ongoing investigation.
