2 San Antonio citizens honored by SAPD for assisting officer arrest wanted suspect

SAPD says when the citizens observed the suspect reaching for the officer’s weapon, they immediately rushed to assist in the arrest.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department has commended two individuals for their bravery after assisting a struggling officer arrest a wanted suspect.

On Nov. 9, 2024, SAPD says an officer was attempting to arrest a wanted suspect when a struggle broke out.

The suspect began to resist and reach for the officers weapon. Once the two bystanders witnessed the struggle, SAPD says they immediately rushed to assist the officer.

This week, two San Antonio citizens were commended for their actions when they assisted an SAPD Officer in trouble. On November 9th, 2024 an SAPD Officer attempted to arrest a wanted suspect. The suspect began to resist arrest and attempted to take the officers weapon. These citizens observed the struggle and immediately rushed to assist the officer. The actions of these citizens were courageous and selfless, demonstrating a willingness to help without hesitation or concern for their own safety, while assisting with apprehending a violent individual. Their intervention prevented the situation from potentially escalating and likely saves someone from serious injury. Thank you! 💙
