2 students facing state felonies after ‘viable’ threat to high school in Texas, officials say

Both students are facing state felonies after an investigation allegedly revealed a viable threat to the school.

GILLESPIE COUNTY, Texas — The Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two students accused of making a threat to Harper High School.

On Wednesday, Sept. 10, Lt. Greg Longenbaugh received a call from the Harper ISD in reference to a potential threat to the high school.

GCSO says an investigation opened up into a male student with the intent of making sure all of the students were safe. That investigation gave authorities enough of a probable cause to issue arrest warrants for the student as they determined there was a viable threat to the campus.

Further investigation led officials to arrest a second male student on Thursday, Sept. 11.

Both students were booked into a juvenile detention center and are facing state felonies.

“We will continue to work with the Harper ISD and the Harper ISD Police Department to assure all Harper ISD students and staff are safe.  We will continue to keep you updated as we continue the investigation,” Sheriff Chris Ayala said.
