20-year-old arrested for allegedly shooting at vehicle with two children inside

Lane Reynolds, 20, allegedly shot at a car while it left a Chick-Fil-A. He has since bonded out.

SAN ANTONIO — A 20-year-old man is facing assault charges after allegedly shooting several rounds at a vehicle that had children inside.

Lane Reynolds was arrested Thursday for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and deadly conduct. He has since bonded out.

According to an arrest affidavit, on May 17 a mother and her two daughters went to Chick-Fil-A located at 3214 SE Military Dr. to pick up an order.

While driving on Old Corpus Christi Road, the woman came up behind a black Ford F-350. Shortly after, the passenger of that truck allegedly started shooting about six rounds out the window at the woman’s vehicle.

The suspect vehicle then followed the woman while she was on her way home. On Higdon Road, the suspect vehicle stopped, the driver exited the vehicle and started shouting at the woman. The passenger also got out of the car and pointed the same handgun from earlier at her and her vehicle, according to the affidavit.

When the woman got home, she called 911.

The owner of the suspect vehicle was eventually identified and contacted. While talking with him on the phone about his whereabouts at the time of the shooting, police learned the identity of his friend, Lane Reynolds, who the driver said, “could corroborate his account” of not being at the scene.

After seeing a photo lineup, the mother was able to identify the driver and Reynolds as the two men involved in the incident. She said the driver was the one who approved her and her daughters while they were inside the vehicle and Reynolds was the passenger who pointed the gun at them.

No charges have been filed for the driver at this time.

Reynolds was arrested Thursday and was given a $75,000 bond. He has since bonded out, according to court records.
