CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — One of four suspects involved in a shooting in 2023 that left a 22-year-old man dead pled guilty to murder charges on Monday morning.
During Cantu’s sentencing, Martinez’s sister said, “Andrew, you have the time to stop—multiple times. You had the opportunity to even fight or jump my brother, at the least, while he had a cast and a broken hand instead of being some man and fighting. You got all your cowardly friends in a car and went after him and a pregnant woman.”
On Friday, July 28, 2023, police were called to the 3500 block of Bluebonnet Street regarding a shooting. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Martinez with gunshot wounds, who later died of his injuries at the hospital.
The other suspects in the case are Roman Felan, Jesse Delagarza II, and a juvenile who were charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful carrying of a weapon, and engaging in organized criminal activity. The Corpus Christi Police Department said the suspects and the victim knew each other, and it was not a random act of violence.
