The truck’s driver is an American returning from Mexico, officials said.
LAREDO, Texas — Officers with U.S. Border Patrol found an almost 24-pound shipment of alleged cocaine inside a truck driven by an American returning from Mexico.
On Monday, May 26, a Ford F-150 was stopped by CBP officers at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge in Laredo so they could take a closer look at what the 51-year-old American driving the truck had in their vehicle.
They used an imaging system as well as a K9 and found 10 packages with 23.85 pounds of the illegal drug hidden inside the truck.
The narcotics had a street value of $318,497.
“Thanks to the vigilance and dedication of our CBP officers, another significant seizure of cocaine has been stopped at our border,” said Port Director Alberto Flores, Laredo Port of Entry. “This interception is a reminder of the critical role our agency plays in protecting the community from dangerous narcotics.”
Homeland Security special agents are investigating the seizure.
